Viktor Maziarchuk, Head of the Fiscal Policy Research Center, met with the Ambassador of Cyprus to Ukraine, Michalis Firillas, to present the organization’s key areas of work.

Particular attention during the meeting was given to the “Cost of War” project, under which the Center’s team systematically collects and analyzes data on recovery expenditures and makes it publicly accessible. According to Maziarchuk, this initiative attracted the greatest interest from the Ambassador, who emphasized the importance of such tools and supported the idea of presenting the project more broadly to an international audience, including the diplomatic community.

For us, it is important that our work is recognized not only in Ukraine but also abroad. Projects like this strengthen trust in Ukraine as a country where even civil society organizations can systematically track all expenditures related to recovery and work with open data,” Maziarchuk noted.

The discussion went beyond a presentation of projects. The Ambassador showed interest in the broader context, including how the economy functions under wartime conditions, what opportunities are emerging for foreign businesses, and the role Cypriot companies can play in this process. The parties also touched upon cooperation in education and cultural exchange as areas that can further strengthen ties between the two countries alongside economic collaboration.
