Olga Volkhina, data analyst at the Center for Fiscal Policy Research, together with a group of 12 representatives of Ukrainian think tanks and NGOs visited Berlin as part of the #UATransformationLab 2024 study tour.
The visit was dedicated to German-Ukrainian relations, intercultural communication, as well as political consulting and advocacy in the international context.
“Our team collects and verifies information on state and local budget expenditures to overcome the consequences of the war and rebuild Ukraine, including funds from international partners. We have seen that the Western audience is interested in our work. Representatives of the government, the analytical community, and the public sector are interested in increasing Ukraine’s transparency, so our task is to promote our work, which will help fight the image of a corrupt country,” said Olga Volkhina.
According to the expert, it is also important for Ukrainians to increase their presence on international platforms to counter Russian propaganda.
“As representatives of Ukraine, we need to increase our presence on international platforms, because Russia is doing it instead of us and promoting its propaganda messages. Since our voices are few there, we must, among other things, provide arguments for those who advocate for Ukraine in the EU,” she said.
Special thanks to Cedos and the Institute for European Policy (IEP) for organizing the event
